At AMIFF 2026 head curator Kjetil Berge will present a retrospectiv of Siri Hermansen.

Siri Hermansen is a Norwegian visual artist and filmmaker whose interdisciplinary practice explores how power, human rights, and identity are shaped by political, economic, and legal systems. Her work unfolds in uncertain zones where historical memory, political transformation, and lived experience intersect.

Through long-term engagement with vulnerable places and the people whose lives unfold within them, Hermansen uses deep listening and a form of shared anthropology to create intimate perspectives on broader questions of power, history, and social change.

Working across film, photography, sculptural installation, and public art, her projects explore the fragile balance between resilience and resistance—between adapting to changing conditions and challenging the structures that shape human lives.

Hermansen has exhibited widely nationally and internationally, and her works are held in several public and private collections. She received her PhD from Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2016 and completed her Masterdegree sat École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1997.
